Bega District Smoke House
Discussions amongst the Bega Branch RFSA Executive, Bega RFS and Sapphire Welding & Fabrication in April 2015 led to an application for a grant to construct a mobile Smoke House. The application was successful and the team at Sapphire Welding & Fabrication, then had the job of transferring the rough drawings into a 3m x 3m x 2.5m checkered–plate aluminium box - complete with door and two windows.
The almost finished product was transferred to Tathra Station to add the finishing touches. This completed, the Brigade decided to put the training aid through its paces and carry out some rough and ready venting. The good news is that it is finished and will be delivered to Bega Fire Control for the use of all Brigades.
Again, our thanks go to the Rural Fire Service Association - without the Grant scheme, this training aid would not have been possible.
